Entropia
Christian Lorenz Scheurer’s Worlds
March 25, 2007 to September 23, 2007
The Swiss artist Christian Scheurer has done what many dream of: a career in Hollywood. Indeed, he managed to attain various mandates on such films as The Fifth Element, Dark City or The Animatrix.
He quickly became one of the most important designers in Hollywood, contributing to prestigious visual film productions or video games (Final Fantasy IX, Spore, etc..). His work opens thus the doors of creation in the most popular cultural products.
This exhibition follows the course of Christian Scheurer – very active in the field of science fiction – in presenting different aspects of his work: ideas born in the sketchbooks that accompanied him everywhere, studies for costume or places design, creations of digital sets, and finally his latest personal project, “Entropia”.
This book is a very original one: a collection of imaginary stamps coming from a distant – and unlikely – planet. This fanciful philately creates an entire world, every stamp containing a specific event of the Entropian history or evoking one of the main characters: Queen Pingo, the Marquis of Salade, or the Secret Guild of the Croissant Bakers.
